Justice Department Sues Drugmaker Wyeth over Discounts

The U.S. Justice Department and 16 states have filed a pair of whistle-blower lawsuits against drug manufacturer Wyeth alleging the company knowingly failed to provide hundreds of millions of dollars in required discounts to state Medicaid programs.The Justice Department announced the lawsuits in a news release Monday and said both cases were filed in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts.The lawsuits allege Wyeth failed to provide the states with the same discounts it gave private purchasers in violation of federal Medicaid laws.The suits specifically target the sale of Protonix Oral and Proto...
