Forging a certificate of insurance coverage will soon be a form of insurance fraud in New Jersey, according to a reminder posted on the State Department of Banking & Insurance website this week. The department noted that Gov. Chris Christie on Jan. 11 signed into law the Certificates of Insurance Act, which makes providing or demanding a certificate of insurance that contains false or misleading information concerning property or casualty insurance coverage a violation of the state Insurance Fraud Prevention Act.
