The Rhode Island Senate on Tuesday passed a bill that would reforms workers’ compensation laws by increasing the daily pay for members of a medical advisory board, and increasing the mileage rate paid to injured workers who drive to medical examinations and rehabilitation.
Senate Bill 2945 passed 26-6 and gives medical advisory board members $500 a day, instead of $300 for the discharge of their duties, not to exceed $6,000 per member in any year.
Employers must pay for the costs of employee transportation for medical appointments or reimburse the worker at the current IRS rate of 57.5...
