The board of directors for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation has approved a $1.5 billion rebate on premiums paid by employers. It's the fifth time in six years that the agency has returned at least $1 billion in premiums, the BWC announced.
The checks to some 180,000 private and public employers will be in the mail starting in September.
The rebates are often used to beef up safety programs, which help reduce accidents and premiums, officials said.
“Investing in safety reduces the risks for costly workplace injuries,” said BWC Administrator Stephanie McCloud. ...
