Supreme Court Tosses Wrongful Termination Claims by Carrier's Ex-Employees

The Mississippi Supreme Court ruled that an employer should have been granted summary judgment dismissing the wrongful termination claims of two former employees. Case: Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co. v. Thomas, No. 2019-IA-00324-SCT, 08/06/2020, published. Facts and procedural history: Regina Thomas and Pam Pilgrim both worked for the Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co. After they were terminated, the women filed suit against Southern. The women alleged that they had been fired as “a pretextual means of avoiding federal proscriptions against gender discrimination.” ...
