A package containing a topical medication used to treat arthritis in the knee, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory solution and adhesive sheets has become a major cost driver among dermatologicals, according to a new report by the California Workers’ Compensation Institute.
Xrylix accounts for only 0.3% of work comp prescriptions for dermatologicals. However, with an average cost of $4,126 per prescription, it accounted for 7.2% of the dollars comp payers spent on dermatologicals in 2021, CWCI said.
