High Court to Review Applicability of Self-Dealing Prohibition to Pharmacies

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court granted a petition to review a case that found the statutory prohibition on self-referrals prohibits physicians from sending injured workers to pharmacies in which they have a financial interest. The Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in a May decision affirmed a hearing officer's determination denying and dismissing five fee review applications by 700 Pharmacy for violating the prohibition on self-dealing.
