A civilian worker for the Los Angeles Police Department pleaded guilty to one felony count of insurance fraud and was ordered to pay $3,491 in restitution, county prosecutors announced.
Gerald R. Pulley, 51, was a senior clerk typist for the department. The District Attorney’s Office said in a statement that Pulley had been on temporary disability leave when he was cleared to return to work in February 2017.
Rather than go back to his job, Pulley returned to a second job working as a security guard while continuing to collect benefits from the Police Department.
Pulley’s felony charge of insurance fraud will be reduced to a misdemeanor if he pays restitution and completes 50 hours of community service.
