Ammonia Leaks May Cost Beverage Business $154K in Fines

Ammonia leaks that panicked unprepared employees prompted the Washington state Department of Labor & Industries to issue $154,000 in fines against a Spokane beverage business, the department said Friday. L&I said it issued citations to Johanna Beverage Co. for two willful violations, each with the maximum legal penalty of $70,000, and two serious violations with the maximum penalty of $7,000.  The department said employees were not sure what to do when the leaks occurred.
