Kareem Ahmed, president and chief executive officer of Landmark Medical Management, received more than $105 million from California workers’ compensation carriers through fraudulent bills for compounded transdermal creams, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office alleges.
Ahmed, 45, formulated compound creams based on the profitability of the ingredients used, charged carriers as much as 50 times more than what he paid for the medications and paid kickbacks to doctors for each tube they prescribed, according to a statement released by prosecutors Friday.
