Oregon state regulators fined a subsidiary of United Healthcare Group $46,000 for improperly denying nearly 5,000 health-insurance claims, the state Department of Consumer and Business Services announced Tuesday.The department said in a press release that as a result of its investigation, PacifiCare Life Assurance reviewed more than 10,000 claims that it had denied during a 21-month period starting in September 2005 and determined that it should have paid 4,928 of the denied claims.
