The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission said the procedure for canceling policies did not change as a result of a recently enacted law.
The governor signed Act. No. 13, which, among other things, declares that cancellation of a work comp policy is not effective unless written notice is delivered to the commission and the insured.
The commission said regulations require carriers to file a notice of policy termination electronically, and the cancellation takes effect 30 days after receipt by the National Council on Compensation Insurance.
