FDA Approves Opioid Analgesic for IV Use in Hospitals, Controlled Clinical Settings

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved a new injectable opioid called Olinvyk to manage acute pain severe enough to require an intravenous analgesic. The drug is intended for short-term use in a controlled clinical setting, such as a hospital or during inpatient and outpatient procedures, and is not intended for at-home use, according to Optum Workers’ Comp and Auto No-Fault.
