The U.S. Supreme Court will not be weighing in on a dispute over whether a Georgia-based logistics company has been misclassifying its retail store delivery drivers as independent contractors when they were employees.
This distinction matters, because employees are protected by a wide array of employment statutes – including anti-discrimination laws, workers' comp and wage-and-hour laws – that don't apply to independent contractors.
