Three Northern California men could spend the rest of their lives in jail after being found guilty of first-degree murder from a botched attempt to rob an injured worker of his $50,000 settlement, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Michael Sanderson received $50,000 to settle a workers' compensation claim for a 2006 injury to his hand, back, hips and legs. The compromise and release order in the case was accepted July 13, 2011, according to information on the Division of Workers' Compensation's Electronic Adjudication Management System.
He was killed two weeks later on July 29.
