Recycling Firm Hit with $84,000 Fine for Not Abating Violations

An Alabama recycling company has been cited and ordered to pay $84,000 after it failed abate hazards as ordered by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration after an earlier inspection last year. Birmingham-based ALSS Recycling, Inc., which recycles sintered iron and sells it to foundries, was cited for one serious and three other-than-serious violations for not abating the violations it had been ordered to fix. It was cited for not properly training its workers to operate forklifts and for failing to ensure that workers using respirators were medically cleared to do so...
