Ride-hailing firm Uber is planning to sponsor legislation next year that would allow it to operate throughout Oregon despite the fact that the state’s labor commissioner last year said he believes the company’s drivers are employees and not independent contractors.
The Oregonian reports its editorial board recently met with representatives from Uber who said they’ve lined up two lawmakers to carry legislation that would clear the way for the company to expand outside of Portland and into cities such as Salem and Eugene.
