ProAssurance Corp. has reported net income for the second quarter of $28.4 million, up 46% from $19.5 million in the second quarter of last year.
For the first half of the year, net income was $40.3 million, a 34% decrease from $61 million in the prior-year period.
In the workers’ compensation segment, net premiums written grew 18% in the second quarter and 12% in the first half of the year, to $64.7 million and $146 million, respectively.
Premium retention was 88% in the quarter, and overall renewal pricing increased 1%, compared to renewal price decreases of 3% in 2017.
