WCIRB Finds Liens Filed on 56% of all PD Claims

By Greg Jones, Western Bureau ChiefAt least one lien was filed in more than half of the permanent disability claims surveyed by the California Workers’ Compensation Research Insurance Rating Bureau from accident years 2002 through 2004, as well as accident year 2007 according to copies of a PowerPoint presentation obtained by WorkCompCentral. Only one or two claims were filed on 24% of the reviewed claims, three or four claims were filed in 10% of the claims, and five or more liens were filed in 20% of the cases, according to Rating Bureau data.
