Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) signed legislation on Wednesday to keep Iowa Workforce Development - which includes the Workers' Compensation Division - operating through the end of the current fiscal year on June 30.The legislation was passed by lawmakers following a ruling by the state Supreme Court that invalidated the agency's budget because of a gubernatorial veto.The court found in a unanimous ruling that Branstad's decision last year to veto a portion of the Workforce Development Department's budget and redirect $3 million for other purposes was unconstitutional.
