An unlicensed Southern California insurance agent stole more than $140,000 from owners of small businesses by pocketing premiums, issuing forged certificates of insurance and charging his customers more than the actual premium amounts, prosecutors say.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office on June 14 filed 32 felony counts of grand theft, insurance fraud and forgery against Robert H. Meseer, 63, of Westminster, after an investigation by the Department of Insurance. Authorities arrested Meseer on Thursday. He was released after posting $100,000 bond, court records show.
