Legislature Passes Bill Addressing Reinsurance Fund Payments

Utah lawmakers passed a bill that would require requests for reimbursement from the Employers' Reinsurance Fund be submitted within two years. Senate Bill 127 would also repeal language requiring the reinsurance fund to pay extended benefits to wholly dependent beneficiaries of people receiving benefits under the Utah Occupational Disease Act. If an employees who has at least a 10% whole person impairment becomes further disabled as a result of a work injury that occurred between July 1, 1988, and June 30, 1994, the Employers' Reinsurance Fund pays the difference in benefits owed...
