Virginia workers' compensation claims resulting from COVID-19 have topped 6,000, which appears to be somewhere in between the per capita numbers for other states that have reported claims data.
The Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission reported Monday that 6,044 workers filed COVID-related claims through July, and another 293 have filed in August. Based on population, that's slightly more per capita than what Florida has reported and slightly fewer per capita than what California has seen, according to data from those states.
