A Fresno widow cannot sue an employer over the helicopter crash that killed her husband in 2015, as her only legal remedy is seeking death benefits through the workers' compensation system, a Fresno County Superior Court judge has ruled.
Kyle Juarez was a 37-year-old paramedic working on a medical flight for American Ambulance when the helicopter crashed in Kern County on Dec. 10, 2015. The three others onboard — 49-year-old pilot Thomas Hampl, 42-year-old critical care nurse Marco Lopez and 40-year-old patient Kathryn Ann Brown — were also killed.
