The Texas Department of Insurance plans to adopt new construction classifications proposed by the National Council on Compensation Insurance, the department announced this week.
The NCCI's filing would eliminate classifications that are no longer considered credible and would establish rules for new classes for construction salespeople and estimators. They are exposed to some of the hazards construction workers face and may access confined spaces, use ladders and inspect roofs.
Currently, some salespeople and estimators are classed under the roofing code.
