WCIRB Releases Fourth Quarter 2019 Experience Report

The Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California this week released its quarterly experience report for the fourth quarter of 2019. For the calendar year 2019, written premiums in California were down 6% compared to 2018, according to the report. Year-over-year premium fell from $17 billion to $15.9 billion. The COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on California’s economy is expected to “significantly reduce employer payroll and insurer premium in 2020,” according to the report.
