Committee Passes Extreme-Heat Study Bill

A California legislative committee passed a bill that would create an advisory committee within the Labor and Workforce Development Agency to study the effects of extreme heat on workers, businesses and the state’s economy. The Assembly Labor and Employment Committee on Wednesday voted 6-0 to pass AB 1643, by Assemblyman Robert Rivas, D-Hollister. The bill would require LWDA to create the advisory committee by July 1, 2023, and complete its study with a final report due to the Legislature by Jan. 1, 2025.
