The Hawaii Senate approved a measure that would eliminate statutory language requiring that only wages earned at the time of injury are considered when calculating indemnity benefits.
The Senate on Tuesday voted 25-0 to pass Senate Bill 2641, by Sen. Stanley Chang, D-Hawaii Kai.
Current law requires that indemnity benefits are calculated using the worker’s average weekly wages from all covered employment at the time of the injury. Chang’s bill would strike language referring to the time of injury.
