Village of Roscoe Considers Becoming Self-Insured

A Central Illinois community is considering private insurance options or becoming self-insured after it learned two weeks ago that it would lose its workers' compensation coverage.The Village of Roscoe, a suburb of Rockford, Ill., west of Chicago, is one of 22 municipalities the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association intends to drop Dec. 31 because of high claims, according to a story in the Rockford Register Star.Roscoe, which has 30 employees, has incurred $1,151,770 in insurance losses since 2005.
