Insurance Agent Indicted for Allegedly Selling Bogus Coverage

Wednesday, January 6, 2016 | 0

An insurance agent from Kentucky is wanted on fraud charges, accused of selling bogus workers' compensation insurance to a contractor working for MillerCoors brewery.

Rebecca Collins was indicted Dec. 31 in Dougherty County, Georgia, where the brewery is based. She has not yet been arrested, the county's District Attorney Greg Edwards told WALB news in Albany.

The case was investigated by the state's Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commmissioner.

It is alleged Collins sold what she claimed was insurance coverage to Popham Mechanical Contractors, which had workers employed at the brewery in Albany.

"She is not a local person, as best we know," said Edwards. "This person resides in the state of Kentucky. But we will be taking steps to engage in the extradition process."
