OSHA Fines Foundry $104,000

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined the owner of a Montana foundry $104,000 after finding 14 violations during a recent inspection.OSHA says SeaCast Inc. committed a willful violation by failing to administer a continuous and effective hearing conservation program at its foundry in Butte, Mont. The company, which is headquartered in Washington state, was also cited for 13 serious violations, including not guarding machines, elevated levels of breathable silica, not providing a respiratory protection program, unsecured storage racks and mater...
