Children Can Sue Over Birth Defects Allegedly Linked to Dads' On-the-Job Exposure

Two teenagers who suffer birth defects because of their fathers' workplace exposure to toxins did not inherit their fathers' exclusive remedy and can pursue a civil suit against Motorola for damages. The 1st District Court of Illinois ruled that workers' compensation was not the exclusive remedy for 18-year-old Sarina Finzer and 17-year-old Jeremy Hardison, because they were seeking damages for their own injuries, not their fathers'.
