The U.S. Department of Justice has announced that it is awarding almost $320 million to combat the nation’s opioid crisis.
The DOJ said the funding will help crime victims, children, families and first responders.
The largest piece of the funding, about $162 million, will go to comprehensive site-based programs to help jurisdictions plan and implement strategies to reduce opioid abuse, and mitigate its impact on crime victims.
Adult, juvenile and family drug courts, as well as veterans' treatment courts, will receive about $81 million.
