General Assembly Passes Bill to Extend COVID Presumption

The Illinois General Assembly passed a measure that would extend until June 30 the presumption that COVID-19 is a compensable occupational disease for specified workers. Gov. J.B. Pritzker last year enacted HB 2455, creating a rebuttable presumption that COVID-19 is compensable for police, firefighters, licensed medical professionals and paramedics, nursing home workers and home care workers, corrections officers and people working for essential businesses who are required to interact with the public or work in a place with more than 15 others.
