Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman has approved legislation to increase maximum workers' compensation burial benefits from $6,000 to $10,000.Legislative Bill 738 by Sen. Mike Gloor of Grand Island was approved by Heineman on April 10.Gloor reported the current benefit amount of $6,000 had not been changed since 1997.The spouse or children of the deceased would receive the amount to pay for funeral expenses, Gloor said.The senator said the bill was "the result of a constituent contacting me after they experienced the death of their son in a working accident."For the text of LB 738, go here. ...
