Liberty Co. Appoints Managing Partner in Los Angeles

The Liberty Co. Insurance brokers announced Monday the appointment of Jon Axel as managing partner of its Los Angeles office.

Axel has a background in property, casualty, and financial insurance products. He will lead Liberty's largest office as well as continue his role as a producer/client executive, the brokerage said in a press release.

Axel was with Hub International for the past 11 years. Prior to Hub, he spent 14 years with Marsh in various specialty practices including political risk/trade credit, Japanese client practices, marketing and as a client executive in the middle market department.

Axel currently serves as chairman of the Western Division Board for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation and as chairman for the Center Theatre Group's Corporate Circle Board. He is also a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association.

Axel is originally from New York but has lived in Santa Monica for nearly 20 years, where he currently resides with his wife and 16-year-old daughter. He is a graduate of Emory University, with a B.A. degree and double major in economics and religion.
