Twenty percent of carpal tunnel cases in California in which physical therapy was provided through MedRisk, a workers’ comp physical medicine management company, were post-surgical cases, while the other 80% did not involve surgery, the company said.
In North Carolina and Georgia, the proportion of surgical carpal tunnel cases was about 20% and 30%, respectively. Florida and New Jersey had an even higher rate of surgical carpal tunnel cases, at roughly 40%, according to MedRisk’s 2018 industry trends report, released Tuesday.
