Tucked into the many measures attached as riders to an omnibus budget bill signed into law in Connecticut on Tuesday are provisions that will increase the salaries of workers' compensation commissioners and create more transparency for injured workers whose employers are directing them to in-network providers.
The changes were included in the "budget implementer" Senate Bill 1502, which Gov. Dannell Malloy signed on Tuesday. The bill contained measures that journalists in the state wrote were unlikely to pass otherwise, some of which received no public hearing.
