West Virginia officials have used a special fund created by lawmakers last session to pay more than $892,000 in workers' compensation premiums for volunteer fire departments (VFDs), The Charleston Daily Mail reported on Wednesday.State Auditor Glen Gainer's office said payments to VFDs facing major premium increases averaged $4,020.
