The leader of a Senate committee that hears workers' comp issues has introduced legislation that would require certification of utilization review plans.
Sen. Tony Mendoza, chairman of the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee, said the measure is part of an effort to ensure decisions are timely and appropriate, and to spark a larger debate about how the process of analyzing medical treatment requests is working in California’s workers’ compensation system.
