Man Accused of Fraud after Allegedly Using Alias

Friday, September 25, 2015 | 0

An Elgin, Illinois, man has been charged with workers’ compensation insurance fraud of more than $100,000 after police who pulled him over for possible drunk driving discovered he had been using multiple aliases.

Miguel A. Sanson-Becerra, 41, was pulled over around 12:20 a.m. on Sept. 18 by Elgin police, who thought he might be under the influence of alcohol. Sanson-Becerra wasn’t charged with drunk driving, but authorities followed up on a comment by his estranged wife that he used an alias, according to a story in the Daily Herald.

Investigators found that Sanson-Becerra had used multiple aliases, and he allegedly admitted to working under a false name for a roofing company, where he was awarded more than $120,000 in settlements and medical payments in a workers’ compensation claim, the Daily Herald reported.

Sanson-Becerra is scheduled to appear in Kane County court on Oct. 8.
