The president of the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery said proposed changes to the Medical-Legal Fee Schedule would not give qualified medical evaluators the much-needed raise they seek.
Dr. Jacob Rosenberg, president of CSIMS, writes in an opinion piece for Capitol Weekly that doctors who previously worked as QMEs to resolve disputes between workers and carriers “have been leaving the system in droves.” There is a shortage of QMEs that is particularly pronounced in some specialties such as orthopedics, he wrote.
