Fee Schedule Changes Target Air Ambulances, Compound Drugs

For the first time, South Carolina's medical fee schedule seeks to limit reimbursements to air and ground ambulances. The 2017 draft of the fee schedule also requires providers to obtain prior authorization before prescribing compounded drugs or drugs that are part of a pain management program.  First introduced at the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission's meeting last week, the fee schedule draft goes into effect Sept. 1.
