Steve Poizner leads the field of candidates to replace Dave Jones as California’s next insurance commissioner, according to media reports.
Poizner is likely most well-known in the work comp community for refusing to approve three recommended advisory pure premium increases, saying he didn’t believe carriers were doing enough to control costs. He was a Republican when he served as insurance commissioner from 2007 to 2011, but is now running as an independent.
