A California state lawmaker has introduced legislation that would allow the Division of Workers’ Compensation to prohibit medical providers convicted of fraud from treating injured workers.
The Department of Health Care Services is already required to suspend the authority of doctors to treat Medi-Cal beneficiaries following a fraud conviction. Assemblyman Adam Gray, D-Merced, on May 10 amended AB 1244 to include language that would require the DWC to prohibit doctors who were suspended by DHCS from participating in the comp system.
