The California Assembly Appropriations Committee is holding a hearing Aug. 19 on a bill that would expand the presumption that post-traumatic stress disorder is a compensable injury for specified first responders.
Senate Bill 284, by Sen. Henry Stern, D-Canoga Park, would apply the presumption to:
Active firefighters for the State Department of State Hospitals, State Department of Developmental Services, Military Department and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Security officers of the Department of Justice performing assigned duties as security officers.
