The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation will hold a Zoom meeting with stakeholders next month to discuss proposed rules defining which doctors can perform peer reviews and utilization reviews.
The regulations are in keeping with Senate Bill 1742, which passed the Legislature and was signed into law in 2019. The law requires that physicians performing those reviews and independent reviews of health care for injured workers be of the same or similar specialty as the doctor whose recommendations are being scrutinized.
