Medicare has been taking larger bites out of workers’ compensation in the past five years, and the program’s appetite will likely keep growing.
A Casualty Actuarial Society report released this week shows that Section 111 reporting — a requirement instituted in 2010 as part of the Medicare, Medicaid and State Children’s Health Insurance Program Act of 2007 — has increased workers’ compensation claim costs by as much as 1.4%.
