Less than a month after the U.S. Labor Department fined Dollar General Corp. $1.6 million for workplace safety violations, the agency on Tuesday said its inspectors issued another $2.8 million in penalties for similar violations at stores in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
Seven inspections by the department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration from April 28 through June 3 identified 31 violations similar to those found at other Dollar General stores where litigation is pending.
