A Spencerville man was ordered to pay the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation close to $28,000 after pleading guilty to a felony charge of workers’ compensation fraud, according to a release from the BWC.
Douglas Roop pleaded guilty on June 1 to collecting permanent total disability payments while working. Investigators last year were tipped off that Roop was working. They discovered that he had been working for his brother-in-law's two Lima businesses while collecting permanent total disability from June 2012 to September 2013.
